शिमला में रामपुर गाँव था जो 25 किलोमेटर दूर था जो भूत पीशाच के लिए बदनाम था । यह बात तो पता ही होगी कि जिन स्थानों को बुरी ताकते अपने कब्जे में ले लेती हैं उन स्थानों पर बसने वाले लोग या तो स्वयं उस स्थान को छोड़ कर चले जाते हैं और अगर नहीं जाते तो उन्हें अपनी जान से हाथ धोना पड़ता है।
ये रामपुर भी कुछ एसा ही था। वहाँ पहले पहाड़ी ब्रहमनो का वास था. ऐसा माना जाता है कि सन 1798 में इस गांव में रहने वाले लोग और आसपास के 84 गांवों के लोग रातोंरात अपना घर छोड़कर चले गए थे. सन 1300 से इस गांव में पहाड़ी ब्राह्मण की पीढ़ियां रहा करती थी और रक्षाबंधन के एक दिन सभी इस गांव को छोड़कर चले गए। ऐसा माना जाता है।
इस दिन कुछ ऐसा दर्दनाक घटा था जिसके बाद आज तक भी कुछ पहाड़ी रक्षाबंधन का त्यौहार नहीं मनाते।
मौत से छीनकर अपनी जिंदगी दुबारा वापस लाई। शिमला के दीवान रुद्र प्रताप को रामपुर गाँव समेत 84 गांवों के मुखिया की खूबसूरत बेटी से प्यार हो गया था। रुद्र प्रताप ने गांव के लोगों को यह धमकी दी थी कि अगर उसका विवाह उस लड़की के साथ ना हुआ तो वह करों में और ज्यादा वृद्धि कर देगा।
ऐसे हालातों में गांव के मुखिया ने उस स्थान को छोड़कर जाने का निश्चय कर लिया और अपने पीछे यह श्राप छोड़ गए कि जो भी उनके जाने के बाद इस गांव में रहेगा या बसने की कोशिश करेगा वह अपनी जान से हाथ धो देगा. मुखिया और उसकी के जाने के बाद गांव के बहुत से लोग धीरे-धीरे कर के बीमार पड़ने लगे या फिर अचानक ही मृत्यु के प्राप्त हो गए।
इस घटना के बाद रामपुर और आसपास के 84 गांव के लोगों ने अपना-अपना घर छोड़ दिया और तब से लेकर अब तक कोई भी उस गांव में बसने की हिम्मत नहीं जुटा पाया है.अब सच क्या है यह तो हम नहीं जानते लेकिन शायद ये घटना उस खौफनाक दास्तां को बयान करने के लिए काफी है जिसकी चीखों से आज भी वो गांव कांप उठता है।

iss ghatna ke baad rampur aur aspas ke e gaanv ke logon ne apna-apna ghar chhod diya aur tab se lekar ab tak koi bhi us gaanv mein basane ki himmat nahi juta paya hai.ab sach kya hai yeh toh hum nahi jante lekin shayad ye ghatna us khaufnaak dastan ko bayan karne ke liye kafi hai jiski chikhon se aaj bhi woh gaanv kanp uthata hai.
